Production
Wickeder Steel has two 340 foot long hardening and
tempering lines with in-line polishing, bluing and coil breakdown to
customer specification. Wickeder Steel’s furnace configuration
has the ability to single-strand harden and temper up to 16 strands
simultaneously and can run strips up to 26 inches in width.
There are five areas of production: (1) the two furnace production lines
with in line polishing, coloring, and packaging; (2) a precision slitter/wide
edger line; (3) a high-speed precision edger/oscillating line; (4) a
utility edging line; and (5) a down-winding line (see “Equipment
and Capacities” for details). Wickeder Steel has annual production
capacity for 25 to 30 million pounds of hardened and tempered products
and 15 million pounds of value added cold rolled products.
