Wickeder Steel Company Butcher Bandsaw Steel is produced from especially clean heats of raw material designed to help the product withstand the extreme loading conditions found in this application. All stages of production from the melt shop through the breakdown of the finished goods into matched sets of small coils is controlled and monitored through ISO 9002 certified procedures.

1.25%C "Pin-Point"

WSC Pin-Point is so named due to the high density of very fine, uniformly distributed, spheroidized carbides in the microstructure. This 1.25%C material is designed for the manufacture of bandsaw blades. The microstructure facilitates the heat-treatment process of the "toothed" bandsaw material and provides enhanced wear resistance properties in the metal cutting application. WSC 1.25%C Pin-Point undergoes an elevated temperature "stress-relief" operation as a final processing step to ensure a strip with excellent geometry and minimum residual stress.

Wood Bandsaw Steel

WSC Wood Bandsaw Steel is melted in small, customized heats to ensure the requisite cleanliness and special chemistries demanded by the critical heavy-duty sawing applications for which it is designed. Processing characteristics such as machinability, blankability, weldability and response to induction heat treating are enhanced by heat-treating parameters defined uniquely for a given material grade. Performance characteristics such as fatigue life and wear resistance are improved through customized, machined edges and application-designed material microstructure.
